Flesh Above the Spirit: The Order That Reveals the Heart
3500+ Word Blogger Post – NKJV Scriptures
INTRO: A WORLD UPSIDE DOWN
This world has a priority problem.
The world lifts up the flesh — appearances, reputation, status, image, physical attraction, and how others perceive us — and treats the Spirit of the Living God as an optional afterthought. If the Spirit shows up at all, He is pushed to the bottom of the list.
But God is Spirit.
He can never come second to the flesh or anything He created.
“God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” — John 4:24 (NKJV)
To worship in Spirit means to put Him first. To put the flesh first is to dethrone God and enthrone creation.
The world is loud about the body…
but silent about the Soul.
Loud about self-image…
but speechless about the image of God.
Loud about style…
but quiet about salvation.
The world has crowned the flesh king —
and then wonders why everything is dying.
THE KINGDOM ORDER: SPIRIT FIRST, THEN EVERYTHING ELSE
The Kingdom of God has a different order:
“But seek FIRST the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” — Matthew 6:33 (NKJV)
That word FIRST is a divine key.
Not second.
Not later.
Not “I’ll get to Him when I have time.”
Your first reveals your god.
If God isn’t first —
He isn’t Lord.
Lordship is not a title.
It is an order of authority.
Jesus is FIRST or He is not received at all.
THE WORLD TEACHES PEOPLE TO BOW TO THE FLESH
From childhood, the world trains people to place flesh above Spirit:
-
Look right
-
Dress right
-
Fit in
-
Gain approval
-
Impress people
People spend fortunes trying to fix what they see in the mirror while ignoring the destruction happening in their heart.
The world says:
“Fix your face, fix your body, fix your brand.”
But Heaven says:
“Fix your heart. Come home to Me.”
“For man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” — 1 Samuel 16:7 (NKJV)
Imagine dying with perfect makeup but a rejected Messiah.
Imagine receiving applause from man and rejection from God.
The world is playing dress-up with a dying soul.
They clothe the outer frame while the eternal spirit cries for help.
THE HOLY SPIRIT CANNOT BE SECOND TO DUST
Man is dust — breathed into.
“And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life.” — Genesis 2:7 (NKJV)
The breath came first.
Dust mattered after Spirit entered it.
So when people say:
“Spirit second. Flesh first.”
They put dust in the place of Divinity.
Dust gets wrinkles.
Dust decays.
Dust returns to dust.
But the Spirit lives forever.
Yet the world bows to dust
as if dust is a god.
THE CHURCH MUST REPENT FOR PUTTING FLESH FIRST
Some churches preach:
-
Talent over anointing
-
Performance over presence
-
Crowd approval over God’s approval
Entertainment becomes the focus.
The pastor becomes the brand.
The altar becomes a stage.
Conviction becomes uncomfortable.
Truth becomes “too offensive.”
People clap while they die inside.
And many churches are okay with that
as long as the seats are filled.
The Holy Spirit is not waiting backstage
to come out when the service is almost over.
If the Spirit is not leading,
then no one in that building is following Jesus.
“If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” — Galatians 5:25 (NKJV)
THE FLESH MAKES YOU POPULAR. THE SPIRIT MAKES YOU SET APART.
When you live flesh-first:
-
People celebrate you
-
The world applauds
-
Hell is not threatened
When you live Spirit-first:
-
People withdraw
-
The world mocks
-
Hell trembles
Why?
Because a Spirit-led believer is dangerous.
Jesus said:
“If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you.” — John 15:18 (NKJV)
If the world loves your walk,
you are probably walking with the wrong crowd.
WORSHIP THAT STARTS IN THE FLESH IS NOT WORSHIP AT ALL
God does not receive flesh-led worship.
Jumping without Jesus is cardio… not worship.
Singing without surrender is culture… not worship.
Lifting hands without lifting hearts is performing… not worship.
True worship:
-
originates in Spirit
-
flows through truth
-
ends in transformation
Anything less…
is noise.
“This people honors Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me.” — Matthew 15:8 (NKJV)
God does not respond to volume.
He responds to Spirit-aligned hearts.
WHEN THE SPIRIT LEADS, THE FLESH DIES
The flesh cannot survive the presence of God.
“Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.” — Galatians 5:16 (NKJV)
Notice the order:
Walk in the Spirit FIRST.
Then flesh loses power.
You don’t defeat the flesh
by feeding the flesh.
You crucify it.
“Those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.” — Galatians 5:24 (NKJV)
Die to the flesh —
and LIVE in Christ.
THE SPIRIT CHECKS OUR MOTIVES
Why do we seek God?
To look spiritual?
To seem holy?
To feel better about ourselves?
God sees right through all performance.
“All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes,
but the LORD weighs the spirits.” — Proverbs 16:2 (NKJV)
The Spirit checks:
-
Who are you trying to impress?
-
Why are you doing what you do?
-
Do you truly love Me… or the idea of Me?
Real relationship removes reputation.
It shifts the gaze from self to Him.
THE ENEMY LOVES A FLESH-FIRST BELIEVER
A believer walking in the flesh is:
-
distracted
-
powerless
-
offended easily
-
controlled by circumstance
-
led by emotions
-
driven by ego
Satan doesn’t fear someone who looks blessed.
He fears someone who walks in the Spirit.
A Spirit-led believer is:
-
Clear-minded
-
Unmoved by opinion
-
Full of fire
-
Led by truth
-
Armed with discernment
-
Bold in faith
Which one are we?
YOUR ORDER PREACHES LOUDER THAN YOUR WORDS
Every day, you preach a message without opening your mouth.
Your time preaches.
Your priorities preach.
Your habits preach.
Your decisions preach.
Your first says:
“Jesus is Lord of my life.”
Or… it says:
“I am lord of my life.”
There is no middle kingdom.
THE SPIRIT IS SPEAKING — WHO IS LISTENING?
The Holy Spirit is always talking.
But many are too busy listening to:
-
their feelings
-
their fears
-
their desires
-
their devices
-
their followers
God doesn’t shout over idols.
“He who has ears to hear, let him hear!” — Matthew 11:15 (NKJV)
If you want to hear God…
silence everything else.
THIS GENERATION NEEDS A SPIRIT-FIRST REVIVAL
Not a revival of:
-
trends
-
talent
-
technology
But a revival of:
-
conviction
-
repentance
-
holiness
-
spiritual hunger
-
worship in Spirit and Truth
The remnant is rising —
those who will not bow to flesh.
The ones who say:
“Not my way. YOUR way.”
KINGDOM DECREE FOR YOUR READERS
You can paste this at the end for them to declare:
I put the Spirit first.
I seek the Kingdom first.
I obey Jesus first.
I worship in Spirit and Truth.
My flesh does not rule me.
Jesus is Lord because He is FIRST.
I honor His order — now and forever.
Glory to the King who has no equal and no second place!
